Loans By Kathy: Do Nothing Today

Do Nothing Today

DO NOTHING TODAY!  Yes, that is my advice to you, but not all day.

iPhone Screenshot 2

We all work in a fast paced, hectic, stressful industry and sometimes we just need to take a little break.  Taking just a few minutes gives us a chance to clear our minds and the refocus on the task at hand.  This can be a very effective time management tool.   That is why we all need to take a little break and DO NOTHING.

I have found a great little app for that too!  It is called DoNothing.  It is the perfect name for the perfect app.  You get your choice of four beautiful nature scenes with corresponding nature sounds.  The timer can be set for 2, 5, 10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes.  For me sometimes just 2 minutes to focus on something unrelated to business is all I need.

Check it out for yourself:  Do Nothing

Let me know what you think after you have had a chance to do nothing!!

Hi Kathy -- sometimes just taking a mental break can work wonders -- let your mind wander and come back refreshed.   For those who can't do it by themselves, you've provided them with a great idea -- yet another app.

Hi Kathy..... when I'm writing a post, I sometimes like to go into another window and do something else online to get my mind off the post for a few minutes....then I'll go back to it and finish well...

Hi Kathy - I am downloading this app right now. I haven't "Done Nothing" for years and your post made it sound so delicious that I'm about to try ...right after I download it. And fold some laundry. And sort the mail.....

Michael, I am feeling the need for a little break!

Barbara, it does make a difference, doesn't it?

Wayne and Jean - no multi-taksing......

Kathy -- this looks like a great way to take that needed break, and stop focusing on work, so you can be refreshed and able to accomplish more.  I won't be able to use it very effectively, since my work computer doesn't have speakers.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Kathy:  Love the concept of this!  And you and I (and Steven) all know that even 2 minutes can be hard to come by in a lender's world.  Enjoy!  Enjoy!

Steven, it most certainly is... and often needed.

Gene, you said it!!!

Kathy:  I really like the idea of taking some time to destress.  Doing nothing sounds like something I can handle.  But if, while doing noting, one is thinking about the various ways they can re-focus... doesn't that add a "stressor" into the de-stressing do-nothing time?

So very zen! and it applies to Feng Shui peacefulness in many ways :)

Endre:  I am sure you will make it in time, and do it with decently written comments that show you actually are addressing them to THAT post... rather than just doing them to get them done.

You see to be someone who, when he puts his mind to it, can get things done.  Good.  For.  You!

... and probably with a few minutes to spare, too!

Joy, I really do enjoy it!

Janis, it does help to distract.

Karen Anne, the combination of the nature scene and the nature sounds helps me let go for just a few minutes.

Laura, it works for me.

Endre, you are funny!!!

Kathy, I find it so hard to do absolutely nothing for very long. Read for hours but nothing? No.

Connie, I barely get through the two minute timer.

Kathy: That's a neat idea to make yourself relax with an app.  We all know we need to stop for a breath when we exercise, but I think you have a point that we don't always remember to take a break from mental activity.  Even a brief respite can work wonders- Thanks for sharing!  :)

Doing nothing in today's busy life is such a refreshing idea.  What is hilarious is that "there is an app for that!"  haha.  Love it. -Kasey

Kathy, I'm so ready to do nothing right now! Today was one of those days ... if you know what I mean.  I will check out the do nothing site now and spend a few minutes doing nothing!  Thanks!

Andrew, I like that it gives me somewhere else to direct my focus even if it is only for 2 minutes.

Kathleen, you deserve to do nothing....

Lee and Carol, the world would be a calmer place....

Ema, my pleasure!
