First Waffle House Restaurant To Be Named Georgia Historic Site During National Waffle Week

National Waffle Week will be celebrated between September 2 and September 8.  A new historical marker will be unveiled at the site of the first Waffle House restaurant in Avondale Estates, Georgia.   This location was turned into a museum featuring this popular Southern dish.

The dedication will be at the location at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 8th and will mark the end of the National Waffle Week celebrations.

Hi Kathy -- National Waffle Week -- why not?  While, I'm not a big fan of waffles, I know many people love them as one of their favorite comfort foods.

Kathy -- there is a chain in Southern California www.roscoechickenandwaffles.com -- the lines of people waiting to get in, especially on a weekend morning, are very impressive!

I guess if you have a good product, the people will come!

Kathy:  The site of a Waffle House can be uplifting!  A very welcome vision.  When our son attended Virginia Military Inst. in Lexington, VA ... the choices for cadets of where to go for a breakfast/meal ... within walking distance of post (only 1st yr. (Senior) cadets can have vehicles) were few.  But on a Sunday morning ... there walking along the main highway heading out of town, would be a long line of sharply dressed, young VMI cadets walking pretty much single file to the Waffle House.  They KNEW it would be open.  It would be priced within their budget.  And tasty.  Can't beat that!  Congrats to Waffle House ... and a big thank you!

Kathy: It has been awhile since I have eaten at a Waffle House but they are always a welcomed site when we are traveling home from visiting family in other states.

Anita, I didn't know that they were founded in 1955.  We didn't have Waffle House restaurants where I grew up.
