Loans By Kathy: Help, I woke up unemployed!

Help, I woke up unemployed!

Now that I have your attention, I am not unemployed. However, as commission only sales professionals every day starts as if we were unemployed.  If you think about it, until you have done something to make a sale every day, technically you're unemployed. And I might add without unemployment benefits.

So what are you doing today to ensure a sale and a pay check.  Here's a list of suggestions for you to review:

1.       have you blogged today

2.       have you called a past client

3.       have you written a personal note to a client or referral partner

4.       have you contacted recent prospects

5.       have you attended any networking events

6.       have you made any cold calls

7.       have you attended any training sessions

8.       have you reached out to your referral partners

Doing anyone of the first four will certainly get you started. It has been my experience that reaching out to a past client generally results in at least one new referral. These are the types of referrals I like best, because I know my past client has already sold their friend on my abilities.

Are you going to do anything differently today than you did yesterday to guarantee your success and future paycheck?

Kathy, great point! I see many new agents who complain that they don't have any business, but yet they aren't doing the above things.

You did get my attention with that title! And you also offered some great, simple tips and reminders for all of us. Nice way to start off this Monday.

A recent post about FAUX unemployment %#s actually pointed out that WE - real estate agents - are not counted AND do not collect unemployment.

You are right, in real estate, your employment is only as good as your next commission check.  Wallace is right, we are not even counted as a statistic.

Good point(s). Many new agents do not understand this and just wait for the business to chase them down.

Some times a new agent just needs a little direction ;)

Wallace, what I have recently learned about commission only statistics are astounding and certainly raised my blood pressure a few points.

Than, anyone is a commission only sales job that thinks that business is going to come to them should probably look for other employment.  Thanks for the comment.

Kathy, EXCELLENT post today my friend. We have so much control over our future by just doing what we need to do to get things done.
