Loans By Kathy: Last 3 Days For Tax Deductions

Last 3 Days For Tax Deductions

Yes, it is the end of the year and there are so many events demanding our attention.  You have the holidays, family, friends, business planning, clients, customers all making their demands.  And then we have the reminders that time is running out to make those changes that will impact our tax bill to Uncle Sam.  Checking insurance, retirement all of those decisions that have a deadline.

I would like to add one more to the list.  Today marks the first of the last 3 days to make a charitable contribution in order to claim it on your taxes.

Throughout the holidays, we have been approached by charities asking for clothing, toys, and financial contributions as the Santa rings the little bell.  I would like to ask you to dig into your pocket one more time for a very worthy cause.

I have long been a supporter of Share Our Strength, whose goal is to end childhood hunger in the USA.  There have been an increase in these numbers as many families have struggled with the economic challenges, with losing their home, job, etc.   In a country with so much, the thought of 1 in 4 children not knowing when they might have their next meal is appalling, of course in my humble opinion.

Throughout the year, there are many fundraising events that support Share Our Strength, including Dine Out week in September and the annual Taste Of The Nation events held in each city.  There are many corporate sponsors that will match donations, so those are always a good time to give.

I have taken the pledge and ask you to go to the website and do the same and while you are there, please dig into your pocket and share your good fortune.  Here is the link

Wishing you a prosperous new year!
