Keep Them Coming Back - Part 2

One sure fire way to get your customers talking about you with their family and friends is to create a memorable experience.  There are so many ways to create that memorable experience, the secret to success is to make it genuine.  For example, if you are meeting a client at your office, you may want to put out fresh baked cookies.  But if you aren't a baker, this strategy may backfire on you.  There are many ways to create an experience for your clients.  The scent of fresh brewed coffee can be a real winner or bring along a hot thermos full of chicken soup when showing property on a wet and cold day.


It has always been a good idea to remember a birthday, and sending a card will surely be appreciated.  We all receive birthday cards from our insurance agents, doctors, dentists and other service providers,  but what if you picked up the phone.  CALL THEM to wish them a Happy Birthday.  That will surely create a memorable experience.     Want to go a step further … send a birthday card to their pet!

To illustrate the power of this strategy, let me share this with you.  When I was in grade school my parents decided to move from one suburb to another about 15 miles away.  The selling real estate agent, Mr. Don Heidorn of Century 21 made even an impression on me at the age of 12.  Every year, he would send a card at Thanksgiving!  Now, it has been a number of years since I was 12, but I still remember the man's name and his company!!!  He created a memorable experience.

Remember that we were hit by a recession of money … not loyalty.  Most people still want to be loyal and want loyalty in return.  In these days where trading in real currency can meet stiff competition, creating loyalty in trade can rejuvenate and accelerate your business!

Kathy-thanks for the tips on "creating a memorable experience" sometimes, as agents, we forget about the small touch points and relationship building.
