No Child Should Go Hungry

As many of my friends, family and blog subscribers know there are several charitable organizations that I passionately support.  I first learned about the Share Our Strength (SOS) organization as a culinary student about 20 years ago.  The fact that 20 years later, we are still faced with the same problem on a greater scale is just shameful in my opinion.

We are so fortunate in the USA to have so much.  However, the current statistics are that 16 million children go to bed each night hungry.  I cannot imagine being a child and living with the continual stress of not knowing when the next meal might be.

Doctors have long said that good nutriution is critical to living a healthy life.  It affects not only their health during their developmental years, but impairs their learning abilities.  The long term health impact can only be speculated.

April 12th is the Atlanta Taste of the Nation event at the Georgia Aquarium.  This is the biggest money fundraiser event in Atlanta.  We need your support .  Here is the link for the event.  Taste of the Nation Atlanta.  Now if you don't live in Atlanta, please check out the website for an event near you.  www.stength.org.

The next is a special to be aired on April 14th on FoodNetwork regarding the problem of childhood hunger.

Share Our Strength - FoodNetwork Program

I am looking forward to the program, so be sure to tune in.
