Tips for writing a great blog....content is critical

Tips for writing a great blog are all over the internet but some of the most helpful have been found right here on Active Rain.  After nearly three years, the one thing that I have learned is that content above all else is the most important.  Finding a topic for your blog can come from any inspiration.  It can be a real life experience or encounter with a client, co-worker, or service provider.  It can be based on a hobby, or activity that is interest to you.  It can be based on a local event, charity or community information.  For a real estate agent, it can be an area market report or subdivision information or a specific listing.  As a licensed  Senior Mortgage Loan Originator, I frequently write about how the mortgage process works, suggestions for credit, positioning for mortgage or real life examples of clients seeking a mortgage.

There has been discussion about the ideal length of the blog.  The word count isn't as important as what you are saying.  If you can convey your message in three short paragraphs, great.  If you need more space to make your point, great.   There isn't a specific rule.  When I have reviewed some of my favorite bloggers, I find that those with two to four paragraphs get my attention.  They all have one thing in common.  There is an introduction, a clear story and a conclusion that may include some type of call to action.

Stay tuned for more tips for writing a great blog.
